Humble Boy Press Release

THE CLARENDON PLAYERS will stage 'HUMBLE BOY' by Charlotte Jones, on
Thursday, Friday & Saturday November 12, 13 & 14, at the Memorial Hall, 7.30 p.m.

This award-winning comedy, was premiered at the Royal National Theatre in 2001, and won two awards in 2002: the Critics’ Circle Best New Play and the People’s Choice Best New Play. The Sunday Times reviewed it as ‘a seriously wonderful play’.

'Humble Boy', which has a current day setting in an English country garden, explores Felix Humble's reaction to changed family circumstances. With reference to subjects as diverse as bee keeping, horticulture, theoretical physics, anosmeia and swing music, 'Humble Boy' is both hilarious and poignant as it reveals the relationships between the characters.

Glenn Chapman has the title role, as Felix Humble, a scientist. Paula Clifford plays Flora, his recently widowed mother. Lloyd Morgan is Jim and Barry Austin plays George Pye, whose daughter Rosie is played by Wendy Mitchell. Charlotte Pracy is cast as Mercy Lott, a family friend.

Directed by Karen Smith and with set design by Dick Clark, tickets £6 (concessions £5) can be obtained from Wootton Bassett Post Office shop on the High Street from early November.
