to re-launch as Please contact the Musical Director, Andrew Baatz at Ashton Keynes Orchestra At the Orchestra’s AGM last month, Jeremy Lee-Browne was confirmed as the AKO Conductor and Roger Britton remains in the Chair. Thanks were given to Philippa Mayhew-Simpson and Shirley Danby for their long term services to AKO, as they retired from the Committee. The Orchestra continues to be very successful in its’ music making and last year had an increased number of regular players, survived some difficult organisational changes and provided a high standard of entertainment in two concerts. Both audiences at the Parish Church Cirencester exceeded 120 people, and substantial donations were made to the Meningitis Trust and the Cotswold Care Hospice from the proceeds. New string players are always welcome, particularly if you want to play socially, develop your talents or rekindle those former skills. Rehearsals are being held weekly at Ashton Keynes School - 14.30 start. We also have opportunities for brass players. Our next concert will be in November when we are planning on a varied programme, at a Swindon venue in aid of a local charity. For more information, please ring me (01285 860481).
We are a friendly, community orchestra and rehearse for concerts on a Sunday afternooon between September and April. Informal auditions will be held between September and November. If you are interested, please phone Emma Wilson on 01367 820220 for more details.
